General Description: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in mixing, filling, labeling, case packing, and palletizing and train’s new workers for these same positions, as they are needed. Observes and evaluates performance of workers to ensure conformance to processing standards. May step and substitute for line folks from time to time, as needed. Usually assists in adjusting equipment and change-over to different labels and/or packing specifications. Performs other duties as prescribed by the plant manager. Assume responsibility for the supervision of employees on a line. Provide leadership and direction to direct reports responsible for production. Must be able to improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, cost) and increase subordinates' skills and capabilities. Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production standards. Production supervisors act as first line managers of employees. Able to start and operate any equipment and make minor adjustments/changes used in the process, including the mix area Develop the skills to listen to team members and develop that team into a highly skilled production unit! Required to have a general understanding of all the specifications for each product Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Enforce safety and sanitation regulations
  • Manage employees and lower level supervisors in work related tasks
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production of goods
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
  • Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers
  • Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Leadership in a manufacturing environment
  • 2-4 years’ experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the food and beverage industry, preferred
  • 2- or 4- year degree preferred
  • Quick and eager learner
  • Flexible schedule
  • Willing and able to work in a diverse setting
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Trained operators are at each assigned work station
  • Batches are mixed according to specifications
  • Product is filled to specifications and properly coded
  • Labels match product specifications
  • Case packing and coding is correct
  • Stacking and palletizing are what the work order demand
  • Planned line speeds and production levels are met
  • Required to have HACCP training
  • Must be able to read and speak English, as well as communicate with all levels of management and maintenance, as well with non-English speaking staff
  • All paperwork is completed and accurate prior to being submitted
  • Return all unopened ingredients and packaging materials as specified in the SOP and or company policy
  • The required production and quality records are made and report the specifications established by either the equipment manufacture or the customer
  • Unacceptable results are corrected or the suspect product is placed on hold
